Linda joined CIVIL CONSULTANTS in 1988, bringing with her nine years of experience and study in various mapping professions.  Having studied cartography at the University of Connecticut and worked as a thematic cartographer in West Germany for two years, Linda returned to the U.S.A. to study Surveying Engineering.  She received a B.S. degree in that discipline from the University of Maine in 1987, with highest distinction honors. While attending the University of Maine , Linda worked as a technical editor of faculty papers and proposals during the academic year and as a survey technician during the summer.  Upon graduation, she acquired a year of experience as a Geographic Information System (GIS) specialist with a Texas-based consulting firm.

Since joining CIVIL CONSULTANTS, Linda first worked under the supervision of a registered land surveyor, primarily on boundary surveys.  Her work in surveying has included: initial client contact; contract preparation; records research; field work; calculations; and report preparation.  She became licensed as a professional land surveyor in 1994.  Her primary focus since obtaining licensure has been on boundary retracement and ALTA/ACSM land title survey in Maine and New Hampshire .

Linda's professional activities are directed toward the continued advancement of the surveying and cartographic professions in an environment of increasing automation. She has also taught introductory plane surveying for Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, has published a paper on the management of computer resources in surveying education and industry, and has co-authored several papers on the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) and least squares adjustment techniques in upgrading traverse control networks.

She served on the Board of Directors to the New England Section of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) from 1990 through 1993.  She is a charter member and former secretary of the Northeast Regional Geo-Information Management Systems Committee, served as Chairman of ACSM-National's Cadastral Mapping Guidelines Committee, and is a past President of ACSM's Council of Sections.
