Charles joined CIVIL CONSULTANTS in July 1992, bringing with him 15 years of surveying experience, primarily in Maine and New Hampshire. Supplementing his particular strengths in construction layout and site management, Charles has completed numerous boundary retracement surveys, topographic surveys, as-builts, accident site surveys, and hydrographic surveys.

Charles’ current responsibilities include field supervision of boundary surveys for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USF&WS) at a number of remote locations in Maine and New Hampshire. Sites include a 6,000-acre multiple-tract acquisition at Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and tracts totaling 1,000 acres located at Petit Manan NWR. In addition he has performed hydrographic and topographic surveys on four Down East Rivers and the Craig Brook Hatchery to support the (USF&WS) Atlantic Salmon Restoration Project and Hatchery Expansion.

Charles served as project manager for a four-mile section of Dover Point Road in Dover, New Hampshire, for design of a new water line. Other work has included responsibility for boundary and topographic surveys for the new Marshwood and Noble high schools in Maine. These tracts of land are 50 acres and 162 acres respectively.

During the Winter/Spring of 1993, he performed 33 miles of boundary retracement for the United States Forest Service in the White Mountains of Maine and New Hampshire. During the Summer/Fall of 1993, Charles supervised the field personnel for a 25-mile segment of the Appalachian Trail Corridor through Gulf Hagas and the White Cap Range in Northern Maine. Since that time, he has been a member of teams completing numerous projects for the National Park Service and USF&WS, in addition to his other duties.

His responsibilities for the firm have also included serving as party chief of a crew contracted to the Maine Department of Transportation. For one year, Charles performed preliminary engineering surveys for roadway and bridge reconstruction.

Charles has a strong background in field and office procedures and excellent communication and organizational skills. His solid familiarity with current hardware and software enable him to assist with management of CIVIL CONSULTANTS' computer resources and prove to be a continued asset for our team.

Charles has also volunteered extensively as a ridge runner for the Appalachian Trail Club. As a result of this work, he has logged many miles on the hiking trails of the White Mountains.
